Rumour: Everton Plan Bid For N'Zogbia

Sky Sports sources understand that Everton plan to enter the race to sign Wigan Athletic winger Charles N'Zogbia.

It was revealed on Friday morning that Aston Villa had tabled a bid of around £10 million for the Frenchman as they aim to replace Liverpool-bound Stewart Downing. New Villa boss Alec McLeish attempted to sign N'Zogbia whilst in charge of Birmingham City.

However, Everton are hoping to hijack the move and have made known their significant interest. Wigan chairman Dave Whelan is hoping that he will be able to bring in over £10 million for his star player.

Newcastle and Sunderland have also been linked with moves for N'Zogbia this Summer.

StickyToffee Verdict: It seems N'Zogbia may have a choice between Everton and Villa, in which case we might be confident of his signature. Where we find the £10 million from, though, is a different matter entirely.
