Rumour: Everton After Schalke Star

Everton are again considering a move for Schalke 04 midfielder Lewis Holtby, according to footybunker.com. Wikipedia has gone one step further and claims that Holtby has signed in a £6.5 million deal, although - quite frankly - we all know that is bollocks.

Although now a full German international, Holtby did have the chance to represent England, but he turned down the offer and made his Germany debut in 2010.

Interest from Everton was first reported in January after the 20-year-old began to impress for the Bundesliga giants. Everton manager David Moyes feels the winger may be tempted with a move to England as he is half English - and his father is indeed an Evertonian.

In the past Holtby has said: "My father was born in England and was a Everton fan since the age of five. He immediately infected me with the Everton virus! Since then I have been a Everton fan and have always followed their games."

The asking price for Holtby is said to be around £6.5 million.

StickyToffee Verdict: Seems plausible - Lewis and his 'arl fella are Evertonians and would surely relish the chance to move to the Premier League, and Moyes may just have enough money from the Pienaar and Vaughan sales to scrape together the required £6 million. But we are Everton and we never do anything simply - so we will have to see.
