Arsenal Bid For Jagielka Rejected

An Arsenal bid of around £10 million for centre-half Phil Jagielka has been instantly rejected by Everton, with many sources saying that David Moyes values the player at almost double the initial bid.

Many sources, including The Times, goal.com and Arsenal website wearethenorthbank.com have claimed that the Gunners tabled a bid for England international Jagielka, although the different sources claim that the bid was different amounts.

Arsene Wenger seems to have made Jagielka his first priority after earlier rumours that he would try to land either Gary Cahill of Bolton or Christopher Samba of Blackburn.

The bid, of £10m - £12m, was rejected by Everton, with manager David Moyes thought to be holding out for a fee in the region of £20m.

StickyToffee Verdict: A bit like the Lescott to Manchester City transfer saga, I don't want to lose a vital player from our side. However, if a bid of £20 million was to come in, Moyes would be made to think very carefully. I can't see Wenger offering that amount though...
