Everton have joined the race to sign Real Madrid's midfielder Sergio Canales on a season-long loan, after the Spaniard was told he would be surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu.Here's the link to the story in The Mirror (yeah, I know). Canales, 20, is also being monitored by Aston Villa, QPR, Wolfsburg and Villarreal.
Villarreal are reported to have made a bid for the youngster, but Madrid are thought to be more keen on loaning him abroad.
StickyToffee Verdict: Would be a positive and exciting signing, and the option to loan the player may make the transfer more feasible. Wages may be an issue, though.
