Arteta Impressed By Youngsters

Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta has spoken to evertonTV about the young players aiming to break into the first team squad, claiming that there is plenty of hope for the future.

Arteta singled out Magaye Gueye, who impressed with a brace in the 4-1 friendly win over Bury, and Ross Barkley.

Of Gueye, Arteta said: "He looks good and he is the type of player you need as well. We need players who can unlock the door sometimes. Magaye has got a really good shot."

The best little Spaniard we know also praised fellow midfielder Ross Barkley, who unfortunately looks set to miss the friendlies in the US due to a minor ankle injury. Arteta said: "I think he is going to be a really good player. He is young and we don't want to put too much pressure on him but he looks really good."
