Yobo Subject of FIFA Investigation

Nigeria captain and Everton defender Joseph Yobo has found himself at the centre of a FIFA investigation surrounding Nigeria's 4-1 victory over Argentina.

FIFA, who are certainly no strangers to a spot of corruption themselves, have launched an investigation into betting patterns during the friendly match in Abuja. Nigeria led 4-0 against a second-string Argentina side, before Yobo's handball allowed Mauro Boselli to equalise from the penalty spot.

It is claimed that a high number of bets were placed for there to be another goal whilst the score was 4-0.

In a statement, FIFA said: "FIFA can confirm that this match between Nigeria and Argentina was one that we had an active interest in, and forms part of a wider ongoing FIFA investigation."
