Canadian Keeper Denies Young Lions

A freakish late goal from the Canadian goalkeeper robbed England U-17s of a victory in their second group match at the World Cup in Mexico last night.

Across the Atlantic Everton were represented by midfielder John Lundstram, although forward Hallam Hope was strangely dropped after scoring in the young Lions' opening game, a 2-0 victory over Rwanda.

The first half ended goalless but England broke the deadlock within a minute of the restart, with Adam Morgan nodding in from Nick Powell's free-kick. Canada levelled through Sadi Jalili, before Blair Turgott of West Ham restored England's lead.

It seemed as if England had the game in the bag, but they were denied the win thanks to a hopeful punt from the Canadian 'keeper that salvaged a point for the Canucks.

England will now face Uruguay on Sunday, with the final group game kicking off at 9:00 UK time.
