Jack Rodwell regained a place in the starting line-up for England's second fixture in the 2011 European Championships, but couldn't inspire the young lions to victory over a stubborn Ukraine side.
Rodwell was left on the bench for the first game with Spain, but was selected ahead of Tom Cleverley for the clash with Ukraine in Herning, Denmark.
England's best effort came when Daniel Sturridge's long-range effort smashed against the crossbar but both sides found it hard to carve out any more meaningful chances.
With 57 minutes gone Rodwell was hauled off and replaced by Henri Lansbury, but neither side managed to break the deadlock and the game ended goalless.
England now lie third in the group but will qualify for the latter stages of the tournament with a victory in their next game against the Czech Republic, who are second in the group.
