Eyre Helps Wales U17s To Victory

Everton's Jake Eyre helped Wales U17s to a 2-0 Qualifying victory over Lithuania today.

Eyre impressed on the left wing, although his clubmate Gethin Jones sat out the game after picking up an injury against Armenia on Monday. Jones should be fit in time to face Serbia on Saturday in the final group game.

Wales took the lead inside 3 minutes when Cardiff City's Rhys James found the net, and captain Declan Weekes of Wolverhampton Wanderers made sure of the win by scoring a second goal on 70 minutes.

In the other game in Wales' group, Serbia beat Armenia by 2 goals to 1, leaving Wales joint 2nd in Group 9 with one game to go. That game will take place on Saturday against Group leaders Serbia.
