15-Year-Old Green Signs For Blues

The midfielder’s fee could rise to almost £2 million based on appearances, new contracts, potential international appearances and a sell-on clause from any future transfer fee.
That figure seems a gamble considering the player’s youth, but so highly rated is Green that David Moyes and the Everton youth coaches decided to take the chance.
Rated as one of the best players in his age group in the country, 27 clubs – including top sides from Germany and Scotland as well as the Premier League – registered an interest in Green.
The player opted to join Everton, a club with an impressive track record of developing youngsters, and the deal was done on Saturday following talks between David Moyes and Bradford head of development Archie Christie prior to the Merseyside derby.
Christie, who has played a huge part in Green’s development, was quick to praise his player, saying: "This is one of the highest deals ever for a 15-year-old from a League Two club. But George is the best I've seen in his position at his age. He could become another Wayne Rooney or Paul Gascoigne."
The price tag is a hefty one for such a young player. Hopefully that is a testament to the kid’s talent.
Welcome to Everton, George Green.

A twist of fixture computer fate handed Wigan Athletic games against all three newly-promoted sides (Swansea City, QPR and Norwich City) in the first three weeks of the season. Draws against the Swans and the Canaries sandwiched a win over Everton's conquerors QPR, meaning that the Latics were unbeaten prior to last weekend's drubbing at Manchester City.
